Spring Cleaning

Spring cleaning is more than just the house cleaning that needs done each year. The stuff that you don’t want to do, but is important for your home to feel fresh as we head into the spring season. Maybe you’re finally decluttering that filing cabinet (do people still have those?), or you’re cleaning behind some furniture that hasn’t been moved since last year.

But your business files need decluttering too. I’m about to start a fresh look at all my client files. I am usually pretty good at organizing files into folders for the year I worked on something for the client. I will then organize beyond that based on the project. There could be the same file saved in all of those different folders depending on the project I worked on.

Is it tedious? Absolutely! But it’s necessary to keep my business running smoothly.

In the spirit of spring cleaning, I’m getting ready to do an overhaul on my social media accounts and business files. I admit, I’m not the best at posting on my social media accounts regularly. So I will look over my posts and decide what needs to be pulled off and start to make a plan for a better year of posting for myself. I have ideas, but I need to put them into action. Then I will look at my client files and do some renaming, reorganizing, and decluttering of items I no longer need. While I pay for a great cloud based service for storing my files, I need to make sure I’m making room for the new. Especially videos. Because as we know video rules!

How will you start with your spring cleaning for your business?
